After graduating from Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Elliott went on to an internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in 2015, followed by an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in 2016. In 2017 he moved on to the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital for a 1 year specialty internship in surgery and emergency and critical care, after which he was kept on as a surgical resident. During his residency, training under Dr. John Peroni, he developed extensive experience with and interest in kissing spine surgery.
He joined the team at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center as an associate surgeon in 2021. Initially, Dr. Elliott started training and assisting Dr. Barrie Grant with basket surgeries at MAEMC and when the hospital installed a Qalibra CT scan system in 2022 his interest in axial skeletal pathology further developed. He was instrumental in developing the set up and protocols used for the dynamic CT myelogram at MAEMC as well as the hospitals use of the CT for imaging the thoracolumbar spine and pelvis. He continues to develop and adapt his surgical techniques for backs and has since taken over performing all cervical surgical procedures at the hospital. In December of 2024 he performed his first clinical foraminotomy procedures and continues to play an active role the development and use of spinal surgical techniques.
