The future of equine spine surgery is here! ESI member Dr Rachel Tucker and co-authors provide an up-to-date review on surgical techniques for cervical vertebral column disorders. The evolution of cervical vertebral interbody fusion (Wobbler surgery) is discussed, including consideration of appropriate case selection and an evidence based approach to understanding outcomes and surgical risks. Emerging minimally invasive procedures of uniportal endoscopic foraminotomy and articular process joint arthroscopy are described in a practical and accessible manner by summarising indications, surgical methods and outcomes of early cases. This summary brings you up to speed on the surgical options currently available.
