A key study on C7-T1 ventral interbody fusion using the kerf cut cylinder (KCC) implant is now in press! Dr John Janicek et al. present multicenter results of 38 horses undergoing C7/T1 vertebral fusion for treatment of cervical vertebral stenotic myelopathy. Findings show this is no longer a salvage procedure, with 79% of horses achieving successful long-term outcomes, and 50% returning to riding, training, or showing as reported by their owners. This surgery requires a skilled and experienced team and an adapted surgical approach due to the anatomic challenges of operating at the thoracic inlet. Learn about the surgical technique, risks, complications and outcomes for this fusion surgery.
